He worked as a freelance editor and press agent prior to moving to Italy in 1989. Clients included
Lloyds Bank, ActionAid, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, National Campaign for the Arts, and the British Heart Foundation.
He was head of the press office for London’s South Bank Centre, including responsibility for Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall from ‘84 to
‘87.
He was a senior press officer for the Greater London Council from ‘81 to ‘84, responsible for press relations for arts,
sports, transport and planning, including press for the London Marathon.
His first job in the field was as press officer for the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham from ‘79 to ‘81.

He wrote regular features for the travel section of The Independent in the late 1980s.
He also contributed to other publications ranging from Country Living and Review Arts Magazine to Bicycle Magazine and Gay Times.
While working as a press officer he edited and wrote two newspapers both with a print-run of around 100,000 - Hammersmith & Fulham News and Action News for ActionAid.
His apprenticeship in journalism was served as a caption & feature writer for the photo-news agency Camera Press (‘78-’79).

design at West Surrey college of art & design in 1977. Also read psychology & drama at Hull university a very long time ago.
